The Survivors’ Voice

Survivor's Voice

I have a Twitter friend named Jess. I’m quite positive she and I don’t have similar religious views. That’s fine. I don’t have similar religious views with just about everyone I know.

We share one common interest, and that’s a passionate disgust for human suffering. We desperately want to improve upon the human condition and to fight injustice that is expressed in unfair treatment of people. When I hear stories about how certain people are actively doing, actively spreading awareness for the greater good of humanity, I get a knot in the back of my throat, and I have to catch myself from grinding my teeth. I get that way, physiologically, because I can’t stop myself from imagining why they feel this way.

It really (REALLY) pisses me off to hear about people who are hurt, raped, fondled, touched, accosted, maimed, etc. by someone who is so unintelligent, so stupid, so deliberately ignorant to think that evil behavior is okay or forgivable in the 21st century.

Jess has impressed me from day one. She is compassionate, outgoing, and gregarious. As I’ve learned more about her, she impresses me more. She’s been blogging on facebook, but now she’s exploring her goals by launching a blog on blogger.  So go over and check out her blog The Survivor’s Voice. Maybe by creating a place of  Survivors’ Voices, we can turn it into a vocal symphony of life’s loving and supportive voices.

Let’s edge out, marginalize and get rid of that which prevents or hinders happiness.

Black Beans and Chicken

I’ve posted this recipe before. It’s a very tasty. The chicken is covered in two parts chili powder to one part olive oil. The veggies are amazing. It’s a black beans with tomatoes, onions, garlic, chipotle peppers as a sauce served with sour cream and tortilla chips.

Mmm yeah. Bon appétit.

Sunday Night Guest Dinner Chef Michael

My brother in law Michael cooked last night. It was excellent.

Menu was, lightly seasoned skirt steak with pesto, cheese ravioli with sautéed leeks, onion, red pepper, asparagus and garlic, and finally a stuffed artichoke.

Oh la la, bon appétit!

I was so hungry, I cut my steak before getting a picture. It kinda looks like a vagina.

Another angle. Yum.

Howard Stern Show discusses Kirk Cameron Part 1 of 3

I think this is a really interesting take on the whole idea that believers are the target for persecution. Stern keeps making the point that “believers are NOT retarded”. What’s retarded is trying to impose a specific brand of religion on the rest of the world. You don’t want scientologists getting their say in the classroom right?

If you want to believe, there are many avenues for expressing belief. And as much as a Christian wants to claim evolution is a form of atheist religious woo woo, it’s not. It’s science. That’s it. There is TONS of evidence for evolution. It’s not evil. It’s somewhat boring on the surface. It’s really exciting the deeper you read about it.

Nobody’s trying to turn kids into atheists. If you want to teach them “creationism” teach it at church or at home. Creationism is a religious concept. Many religions have creation myths. You wouldn’t want the Muslim version of creation taught in your classroom either. Send your kids to a religious school of your favorite bend, and be done with it.

Parts 2 and 3 below the fold. Part two features a caller who can’t grasp the concept that no one’s freedoms are being violated. He brings up Pascal’s Wager, which I think I’m going to post about again soon.

When Cousins Visit

On Saturday night, my cousin Jon(athan) and his wife Melissa stopped by Le Café for dinner. He goes by Jon now, and I don’t remember getting the memo that it was always shortened nowadays.

We were so glad to see them. The last time we saw them was at a funeral and the time before that was Lollapalooza about 4 or 5 years ago.

I made five pies, I’m going to upload pictures below.

The only one I didn’t get a shot of was second attempt at a white garlic pizza with spinach and mushrooms. It wasn’t a miserable failure, but it wasn’t great either. I’m going to keep working on it. Tina said it was better than the one that I love from a favorite North Carolina pizza place. But Tina’s biased and likes to say things to get me in the sack.

The best one was the Canadian bacon and roasted garlic one. Oh la la. It tastes rich and slightly decadent.

The other stinker for the night was the potato and rosemary pie. I found the recipe and it claimed it was great. I didn’t agree. But it was a first timer. I cut too many potatoes though, and made potato chips while I was cooking that were to die for. Yums-a-licious.

Here you go. 🙂

The “Collision” Panel I like to call, a Trainwreck

As promised, here’s my review of the panel discussion from Thursday night’s screening of “Collision”. Atheist Hemant Mehta and Christian Chad Meister were our panelists and it was moderated by Pastor Mark Bergin. Apparently Mehta beat me to the punch and posted first before I could finish writing and editing (thanks for the heads up @atheistinWA). Yes, sir, I agreed with you about the Q&A. You’ll find that on page one million of my critique below.

(It’s not really one million pages. It is long detailed, though.)

Bon appétit:
