I grabbed this shot after the rally yesterday. I went out of my way to get it. I don’t believe I could take that woman out of the background. If I could, I think it would be a great photo.

I don’t know. I like it quite well even with the woman in it. She’s out of focus enough that she doesn’t detract, or at least I don’t think so.
I do think that the emotional response would change without her. In this photo, it comes across as a photo of a really interesting character with probably a good story to tell.
If he were alone in the photo it might evoke loneliness or sadness given the look on his face.
That’s my 3-minute art critique for the day
Thanks for the feedback. I feel like there are some things that are distracting about her.
What happened when I got the shot was that I raced ahead of him to get him coming at me. I had a long lens, so I needed to get a pretty good distance in front so I could take multiples. As I walked, I glanced over my shoulder. He was there. I glanced again, he was there. I kept going. He was there.
Suddenly, he was gone. I turned as if in a movie. “Where the fuck…”
By the time I spotted him again, I was at this angle, but the street had opened up. Otherwise, the shot would have had the Hancock behind him in the distance.
Oh well. I love the shot. Tina said she wouldn’t mind framing it as is.
