Woot! California’s Gay Marriage Ban Overturned

Last day in North Carolina

August 4, 2010

Monday, Tina and I drove in to High Point, NC, my home town.

Upon arrival, we caught up with my mom and sister. My mom’s health isn’t great. She’s losing weight and doesn’t know why. She had a series of tests while dad and I were in Asia that rendered no definitive results. She’s scheduled for a colonoscopy on Thursday. Today she’s on a liquid diet including some medical drink called “MoviPrep”, which I imagine is a substance to help the cameras pick up on any anomalies in her lower G.I. Tract.

After a quick bite of lunch with mom and my sister, we drove over to my alma mater high school to watch my niece at her swimming lesson. While there Tina and I walked through the hallways of the Christian school I spent 12 years in. Memories were aplenty.

We walked past the place where someone stole a drawing I had done of Princess Grace Kelly. I was damn proud of that picture, and the cunt that stole it can burn in fake hell for all I care.

We passed places where I kissed old girlfriends. We saw a girl who I had the biggest crush on for a long time. Her oldest daughter was swimming in the class with my niece. I took this girl to our silly Christian version of homecoming, which included a dinner and no dancing. My mom curfewed me at 10 or 10:30, so I was miserable the whole night.

I was just 16. My mom didn’t trust me out driving late, and she didn’t want me dating girls yet either. Regular reader SAW went with me. He took some other girl, and the evening was as awkward as a teenage boy’s boner all night.

Ahhh, memories.

After my niece’s swim lessons, we returned to my parents’ house. Later my brother and family stopped over and we all (mom, sister and brother’s family) went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. My dad didn’t get back from Asia until Tuesday morning.
