Mom and Dad, meet your new granddogger Talulah

August 6, 2010

Meet Talulah.

Tina and I are this close to adopting a dog. We have Talulah on a two-week trial starting today. She’s a boxer pitt mix, and she’s awesome.

We picked her up around noon, and we nervously brought her home. I ran her a few miles so we could make sure she was more obedient. Right now, she’s relaxing at my feet.

I must admit, I got the grandogger headline from my sister Kelly. She was joking about it while visiting, and I liked it so much I just had to use it.

At the moment, it seems like everything is going to work out just fine. Of course we haven’t introduced her to Zoe yet. We’re waiting for something to come a little more organically. Zoe’s interested though. More interested than Talulah. I think it has something to do with the fact that she can barely keep her eyes open right now.

Here’s a shot of Talulah lounging by my feet while I work.

Gay Marriage and the Bible

August 6, 2010

There are Christians who may respond to this video and they may say, “Well those verses that are quoted are from the Old Testament. We’re talking about the New Testament references to anti-homosexuality.” But I will remind you that there are approvals for slavery in the New Testament and there are many other New Testament rituals that are forgotten or ignored.

Let homosexuals have their rights and their rites (of passage). They deserve them.

Mega coolness slithers through the café

Check this out.

Here’s a superb restoration project of a 1930’s K.J Henderson motorcycle incorporating both art-deco and steampunk features. So superb, in fact, the project made us veer from our usual hacks and stop by to take a look.  Check out more information about the project and high-res photos below or on the project page.

AC360: Christopher Hitchens Talks Cancer and God

August 6, 2010

It’s going around and worth the watch. The intellectual discussion is interesting, and I can’t help but admire how he’s holding himself even now.

I can’t stop myself from thinking that he’s doing this to sell some books as a part of his rational for giving interviews. But nonetheless, he’s a brave man.

Good quote:

“I might as well say to anyone who’s watching … if you can hold it down on the smokes and cocktails, you might be well advised to do so.”
