Dear Photograph

In 8th Grade English class, you probably remember learning about a frame story, a literary term for a story within a story. I was taught that Hamlet is a frame story, because of the play that’s performed to out his uncle and mother. But Canterbury Tales is definitely one. It’s literature with stories within a greater story.

Here’s a great, “story within a story” project.

Take an existing photograph to the place where you or someone else took the original photograph. Hold up the photograph over the spot it was taken and snap another photo. Then write a short message to the photograph.

Dear Photograph” is that project, and it’s damn cool.

Here are some examples:

Dear Photograph, Grandma loved this beach. Dan Perry

Dear Photograph, I miss that playground. Anonymous

Thanks, Luis V!
