“They” cured the common cold in 1898. Why the hell is it still around?

According to the above advertisement, Karswood Creosote cures everything from the common cold and flu to bronchitis, asthma and whooping cough.

Why is the common cold still around then?

I’m still unsure why we didn’t popularize Jesus’ ability to cure things in one hot second. I mean, he literally raised people from heart-stopped-ness. Where were the scientists that could have learned Jesus’ techniques and brought them to the masses!

Seems a little suspect.

  1. Snake oil salesmen were all the hype at the turn of the century.

So you either inhaled this crap from a handkerchief, subjected yourself to cupping, or whatever other barbaric “remedy” your physician might concoct. Oooooor, you swallowed a few pills of homeopathic remedy and let the placebo effect take over, if at all.

In this environment of pain and suffering, is it any wonder homeopathy was able to thrive as it did? Not really.

That it persists to this day is truly baffling.
