Andrew Breitbart, well-known author, pundit, and political activist, passed away shortly after midnight in Los Angeles. He was 43.
His website, Big Journalism, which first reported the news, says Breitbart died of natural causes.
"We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior," says the site in a statement.
