Important reblog: Pre-existing Post Rape Syndrome

I wanted to reblog this post from regular-reading Glock.

Now I’ve blogged regularly about the military’s propensity to discharge soldiers based on pre-existing conditions pulled out of their ass without proof. The basic gist is they develop mental conditions while in the service of the military, especially issues such as severe PTSD, and get kicked out without military benefits and long and often difficult fight with the Veterans Affairs Administration to get medical help.

At the end of this post is the posts on these related news items and demands my congress to address the problem. But right now I’m adding a new one to the list. Rape victims being kicked out of the military without benefits for having “pre-existing personality disorders” without any proof of such pre-existing conditions, conveniently timed after they’ve reported rape.

From CNN (Read the full article for individual cases they profiled):

  1. It was bad enough when they were doing this with injured recruits and decorated combat veterans. Now they’re pulling the same crap with rape victims in the military with the same tactic. They make up some BS “pre-existing condition” that helps keep their budget bean counters happy for Congress.

From people who got BS discharges andlost military benefits from basic injures, to combat related medical conditions, and now rape… the military is passing the budget burden on to the VA through BS discharges, which means the veterans have to fight for months or years to get treatment they would automatically qualify for if the military wasn’t giving them bogus non-medical discharges.

And even more messed up: sometimes the VA bureaucracy leaves them out to dry too. No military benefits, no VA benefits… signing up and/or literally fighting for their country with nothing to show for it but being screwed over. It’s a god damn shame.

Anger doesn’t even begin to describe the years of watching this happen to fellow veterans, most far deserving than me, and now they’re pulling the same crap with military rape victims? There are no words ro adequately express how angry I am.
