While conservative Americans keep misinterpreting President Obama as a socialist, France went out of their way to elect a legitimate socialist candidate, Francois Hollande, who won the first round of elections, trouncing incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy. Hollande's hypothetical victory could also mean socialism is redefined for some Americans, having only heard of it through criticisms of President Obama and marathon viewings of Red Dawn.
