There’s been so much coverage of the Colorado shooting at a midnight screening of Batman Rising, that I knew about it in my sleep.
But the nightmare turns outright pathetic when a Christian leader tweets the above bullshit.
Bryan Fischer tweeted (already!?!):
“14 killed, 50 wounded in Batman shooting. We have rejected God, we’re turning into a 3rd world country.”
Firstly, what an asshole.
Secondly, that asshole apparently hasn’t read or understood the very doctrines of violence in his own “faith.”
Thirdly, who among you will “love” Fischer enough to tell him that his ideas are hurting America more than secularism.
It’s not about judging. It’s about marginalizing the stupid in this country.
And the stupid, it burns.

“Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm” 1 Timothy 1:5-7. Jeremy, I can’t tell you how much this hurts to see “Christians”, and I use this term loosely, responding like this. “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”. James 1:21-27 Sorry for all the scripture, which you probably already know, but people call themselves Christians and act and speak without love. They forget that Jesus whole ministry was about demonstrating love. IT WAS NOT ABOUT POINTING FINGERS! Like the scripture says, they look in the mirror and see themselves as Christians – then turn around and forget to act like who they claim to be. Christianity is, in my humble opinion, amazingly attractive IF people actually do as Jesus did. I’m not sure of this mans intentions with this statement, but know I know this – religion without love is useless.
Thanks for your response, Richie.
I believe you are a rare voice for your cause, and I hope you know that.
Despite my blatant attacks, you remain steadfast in your determination to be a better person, with good, wholesome views.
I respect that, and I hope to hang out sometime when I’m in NC for a visit.
I’m not in agreement with you regarding your views. But I’ll go out of my way to say that the world can use more people like you.
My readership might even look down on me a bit for not being more critical toward your response. But I’m not sure it’s necessary or warranted to do that. Although I do think you would benefit by breaking up a long response in a couple double returns. It would make it much easier to digest and read.
I hope that makes sense.
Cheers,
JW
