Earliest known photo of men drinking beer

And you thought you were the first person to take a photo of yourself drinking beer.

According to H.Q. Roosevelt at the Roosevelts blog,

Here are three gents named James Ballantine, Dr George Bell and David Octavius Hill drinking an Edinburgh Ale in 1844. This is the earliest known photo of men drinking beer.

Perhaps a little fact that you don’t know, local Chicagoans tend to pronounce it Roooooo-sevelt, instead of Rowsevelt.

There’s a street here named Roosevelt and it used to make me giggle to hear Tina say it. Now, depending on the audience, I say it.
