#29. Good goddamn, Hitchcock was a freaking prophet

June 14, 2012

The reports are in: Birds are attacking gorgeous, hot female runners in Ottawa.

We should all be afraid. Very, very afraid.

Well, all women runners in Ottawa should be, anyway.

Click here for the story and a video.

Thanks, Jude!

27. Jesus, the leader of the superheroes #ssaweek

June 14, 2012

Jesus is so powerful that the other fictitious superheroes bow down to him.

That’s what this church mural portrays, anyway.

Gotta teach those kids who’s boss, right?

26. Think about GOB from Arrested Development … The Final Count Down #SSAweek

June 14, 2012

Okay kids, just ten more posts to go. Ten.

They make Christmas songs, I mean, holiday songs out of the things that include the number ten.

David Letterman has made a business out of a top ten list.

This is my 7 p.m. post. I was hoping to get the Peeper Dee up at 7 p.m., but I’m 37 photos short of the requisite 40 photos in order to get me to donate $40 more to the cause.

One of the photos is from Tina.

You would have me think that there are only two people reading and participating in this blogathon.

This is the SSA. The Secular Student Alliance.

There are starving children in Ethiopia that we need to service by having more students go over, take care of them, and come back and brag about it on their blogs!

There is so much at stake … so we can feed Ethiopian children steak.

I want to build anticipation and announce that in a little while, I’m going to go out and produce a video for the SSA. It’s going to rock. And you’re going to LOVE it.

When will it post? Keep checking back, or subscribe, and find out.

Shame, shame, shameless plug … I know your name.

Above is a photo by the talented Joanne Casey

23. Dr. Herb Silverman sings the hits

June 14, 2012

Herb Silverman wrote: “If an all-powerful god either caused the earthquake in Haiti or stood passively by as thousands perished, he would be a god more worthy of blame than praise. Some days the best thing you can say about God is that he doesn’t exist.”

On his T-Shirt, it reads, “Smile, there is no hell.”

In posting this quote, I looked it up, and a google search returned this post from science-y blogger Allan Fraser. To my knowledge, this editorial is where the quote came from.

See below the fold for a screen capture, but I find it weird that Allan Fraser included the same quote on his blog without attribution to Herb Silverman. Nor did Herb attribute the quote to Allan. So someone plagairized this line, and it really, really pisses me off to see that kind of thing on an atheist site. We’re supposed to be the ones paying attention to details.

We’re supposed to be the ones living like there are good rules to follow.

I’m all for sharing information, but for the lack of gods, what the fuck?

So I left a note on Allan’s blog giving him a chance to correct it. But I’m going to post a screen capture below the fold.

Boy, I am saucy today.

21. Teach your chitlins right! Tell your boys you don’t answer to no woman … spit to the ding.

June 14, 2012

Consider this funny if it weren’t so asinine. The guy in this video tells the interviewer that he doesn’t listen to no woman.

I mean, it’s biblical. So I see where he’s coming from. But holy hell, isn’t it 2012 when picking and choosing is the way the kids operate?

Oh, and he claims to be from Mars … naturally.

About the vid:

A man accused of dumping tree parts on a Detroit street tells a reporter “I don’t listen to women.” The man – Ihor Stetkewycz of Warren, Michigan – also claims to be from Mars. More on the story here.

20. What the kids are posting, #2

June 14, 2012

I’m whoring out another “What the kids are posting” because sometimes you have to lean on the things that you know work.

Here’s another installment of what those jerks over at http://reddit.com/r/atheism are posting.

Sign reads, “I was born gay. You were taught religion.”

Image of the Sistine Chapel reads, “I love you, but so help me, if I ever see you so much as look at another god, I’ll break your neck.”

Full quote from Carlin below the fold.

15. Cuteness explosion! Baby Giraffe’s will splode your cute muscles #SSAweek

June 14, 2012

Nothing raises the desire to give money to the Secular Student Alliance like a baby Masai giraffe born at the Nashville Zoo.

And if that doesn’t get you, try this shot of twin toddler polar bears will surely knock your brain through your skull.

12. CRAZY!!! Let’s do an epic Peeper Dee today! #SSAweek

June 14, 2012

12:30 p.m. CST

We do a daily photo project around here called Peeper Dee. It’s a chance for our readers to take one photo per day with the camera they have with them, be it a phone or daguerreotype, submit it and get it published.

Hopefully, readership is up today thanks to the blogathon, so let’s rock today’s Peeper Dee with a shit-ton (official term) of photos.

So whoever you are, whatever you’re doing, take ONE photo today. Try not to send me images above 500 kbs. Email it here.

Name the file what you want me to name it, how you want your name to appear, and put Peeper Dee 166 or PPD #166 in the subject line.

Get them in, I’ll try and schedule it by 7 p.m. tonight.

Let’s set a goal of 20. If we get 40, I’ll donate another $40 to SSA.

It’ll be EPIC and it’ll totally raise awareness and money for the Secular Student Alliance!

10. What the funny kids are posting

June 14, 2012

Another regular post I lean on is called, “What the funny kids are posting.” I repost some jokes and memes from some of my favorite funny sites, including Joanne Casey’s I have seen the whole of the Internet and Tastefully Offensive.

Only two things are necessary to keep a redhead happy. One is to let her think she is having her own way, and the other is to let her have it.

I used the “#” in front of everything before twitter

Facebook update reads, “Most people don’t realize this … but you can eat organic, gluten-free foods without telling everyone about it.

Man survives a grizzly bear attack, using just a small caliber Beretta pistol.

9. Who are the other blogathoners today? #SSAweek

June 14, 2012

11:00 a.m. CST

Today is the day I agreed to blog every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to midnight tonight.

But I’m not the only contributing blogger today.

One blogger is someone I never heard of before this week. Rachel Prigden at The Reluctant Skeptic is taking today and is blogging from noon to midnight.

What a pansy.

Honk!

Rachel’s all proud of herself for getting published at eSkeptic. Check it out here.

Today’s other blogathoner is one of George Dub’s favorite bloggers Daniel Fincke over at Camels with HammersDaniel agreed to blogging ever Gee Dee hour for 24 hours.

What a champ!

So go over and check their sites. Give them a few toots. Keep them encouraged in the very least. Tell them you love them and their work (even if you don’t), because lying gets you laid.

If you know what I mean.
