I think this is a really interesting take on the whole idea that believers are the target for persecution. Stern keeps making the point that “believers are NOT retarded”. What’s retarded is trying to impose a specific brand of religion on the rest of the world. You don’t want scientologists getting their say in the classroom right?
If you want to believe, there are many avenues for expressing belief. And as much as a Christian wants to claim evolution is a form of atheist religious woo woo, it’s not. It’s science. That’s it. There is TONS of evidence for evolution. It’s not evil. It’s somewhat boring on the surface. It’s really exciting the deeper you read about it.
Nobody’s trying to turn kids into atheists. If you want to teach them “creationism” teach it at church or at home. Creationism is a religious concept. Many religions have creation myths. You wouldn’t want the Muslim version of creation taught in your classroom either. Send your kids to a religious school of your favorite bend, and be done with it.
Parts 2 and 3 below the fold. Part two features a caller who can’t grasp the concept that no one’s freedoms are being violated. He brings up Pascal’s Wager, which I think I’m going to post about again soon.
