Siegel: How you can figure out the Age of the Universe!

This is a must read for all my readers. It’s a great explanation from theoretical astrophysicist Ethan Siegel about how to tell the age of the universe. It’s in very simple terms, and it’s not patronizing or overtly “anti” Creationist. It’s just an explanation for those who would like to have a more reasonable idea in their minds.

You will find all sorts of ideas out there on how old the Earth, the Galaxy, and the Universe are. Some contend that it’s only a few thousand years old, while others contend that it’s infinitely old.

You and I are free to believe whatever we want, of course. But before you decide what you believe, consider this.

The Universe doesn’t care what you think of it.

It simply is, and if we want to learn anything about it, we have to look at it and listen to what it tells us about itself. So where would we look to figure out how old the Universe is?

We met this little girl tonight, and we fell in love. Fingers crossed, we’re going to see about adoption.

She’s not a full size pit bull. She’s about 4o pounds, but would be a perfect size for our condo and lifestyle. We talked to her foster mother tonight for a long time at a street festival. It seems almost too good to be true.
