Prophetic book of poetry

I saw this before Christmas on reddit, but so I don’t have the exact link.

I’m not a fan of The Office, but I watched an episode recently on a business trip. Steve Carell’s character did the “That’s what she said,” line and I cracked up out loud.

Wait, who wrote this perfect book again?

Kick-ass punk star Wendy Rae posted a picture over at facebook. I hated it so much I had to repost it here (below).

Why do I come off as angry (sometimes)? I (sometimes) come off angry, because people look me dead in the eye and they say things like, “God is love. God is perfect. God’s word is perfect, loving and it’s all I need.”

And it includes stuff like what’s below. And I’m not looking at the hyperbolic, putting words in god’s mouth “I hate babies!” line. I’m talking about the list of verses.

Here’s one that you can’t justify in any way. Please, oh please, let me know how I’ve taken this out of context:

8 Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is the one who repays you
according to what you have done to us.
9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.

Psalm 137: 8-9

What’s the context I’m supposed to understand? What did I miss? Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks?

Is this love?

I don’t care about adult enemies. But babies? They deserve to be dashed across the rocks and I deserve to be happy about it?

B U L L S H I T !!!

I should break out into that Haddaway song. I have to get that awful, murder taste out of my mouth. What’s worse, a bullshit Haddaway song or a murderous monster who demands worship in exchange for salvation?

Boehner takes charge as new Congress convenes

I can’t believe Boehner’s not crying. Or is he?

Washington (CNN) — Veteran Rep. John Boehner of Ohio became the 61st speaker of the House of Representatives Wednesday as Republicans officially took charge of the chamber for the first time in four years and dramatically changed Washington’s political landscape.

Democrats maintained control of the Senate for the new 112th Congress, but with a reduced majority.

The change likely presages a stark ideological conflict with President Barack Obama, who is preparing to defend his legislative accomplishments of the past two years and position himself for a re-election campaign in 2012.
