Post-engagement, post-wedding engagement shots

At the shoot yesterday, the other photographer asked Tina and I to grab some shots together. We never got engagement shots, so these are our post-wedding engagement shots.

For all of you out there wanting to get engagements … mark this down as how you should act during your next photo session.

Celebrating life, anniversaries and half birthdays

Today is my mom and dad’s anniversary. It’s my half birthday. Over the weekend, we had a small dinner party with the couple we’re shooting in Mexico at the end of the month.

These are all things we’re celebrating.

We’re also mourning the passing of our close friend’s younger brother Kevin. He was 34.

Life can kiss you on the mouth, give you a bear hug, and kick you straight in the pants in the same moment.

Kevin’s passing is a shock.

Imagine your brother invited you over for a St. Patty’s Day party on Saturday night. His house is big, and he’s offered to have you, your brothers and sisters sleep over, so you don’t have to worry about driving home after having a couple drinks.

In the morning, someone knocks on your door to say, “Kevin won’t wake up.”

It’s earth shattering news and no one can ever understand exactly why this stuff happens.

In preparation for the funeral, I’m going contribute time to cleaning up images to be used at the wake and services.

I have no idea how to wrap up this post, so I’m just going to do it abruptly.

Monday Morning Reading List

Mondays are Monday-ish. Today is especially Monday-like. I’m posting some reading links that you might be interested in.

  • Did scientists discover bacteria in meteorites? PZ Myers’ short answer: no. Read on.
  • Does co-habitation result in an increased divorce rates? Hemant Mehta reports no.
  • Cynical Chris posts a crapload of screen caps of his readers’ desktops. It’s oddly entertaining.
  • Barna group reports 16 to 29 year olds are expressing skepticism and frustration with Christianity. Read here.
  • Resident believer Julie Ferwerda questions the good, the bad and the fugly. Just kidding. Just the good and the bad. Read here. I wonder if people jump too quickly on the “belief is good” bandwagon.
  • Listen to the hits. Matt Dillahunty responds to a believer on his show back in 2008. It’s a good one.

Above, a very un-edited shot from yesterday’s shoot.
