Shocantelle Brown Hair Salon? Finally, I beweave!

I may not believe in angels and demons, but I beweave in Shocantelle Brown’s ability to transform my hair into a treasure garden of magical bliss.

All weekend long, our repeated catch word was, “Okay-rrrrrr.” If you watch the first 20 seconds, you’ll know exactly how to pronounce it.

Do it yourself in the mirror, with your friends, on stage at live performances. You will be the life of the party.

Wrapping up our weekend

Between our trip seeing family and our trip to the beach this weekend, we’ve had a great time.

Last week we spent the week with Jason and Michael. This weekend, we spent it with so many lovely people, I wish I could make it go on forever.

The birthday party we went to in Grand Rapids was stocked with tons of kids and family that I see too infrequently.

And our beach experience was shared with brand-spanking new friends, acquaintances who became new friends and old friends.

Spending time over the week with a mix of same-sex couples, married and unmarried heterosexual couples, it reminds me why I strongly support marriage, both same sex and hetero.

It boils down to supporting people.

Last night, we were talking about relationships, and I love it when Tina says, “Life is too short to be unhappy.”

Tina’s views on relationships have been shaped by a rocky past of divorces and happy marriages. Her views are based on reality, not on supernatural views. And for that, we have a strong relationship built on reasonable expectations and ideas.

She’s not forced to be with me, nor I her.

I wish I could show the closed-minded people within my own family and friends how awesome my friends are — who happen to be gay.

I wish I could show them how fun and great people are.

I wish that their environments were more hospitable rather than negative toward them. I wish there wasn’t an awkwardness to how people ask about Michael and his boyfriend/husband/partner.

We all deserve happiness.

Life and love are too short to interfere on others welfare with unfounded ideas based on dusty old books and brains between gray hair that think they know what the fuck they’re talking about, but don’t at all.

Okay, I’m done with my little complaint session.

I’m gearing up for a great week. Lollapalooza this weekend. Holy cow!

Stay tuned for some fun in the sun down at Grant Park.

It’s all a liberal conspiracy

The above picture is going around on Facebook with the following caption:

In 2006, the Dixie Chicks were PRAISED by ABC for expressing their “1st Amendment” rights by TRASHING President Bush.

In 2012, ABC runs a HIT PIECE on Chick-fil-A, for expressing THEIR 1st Amendment rights and SUPPORTING traditional marriage.

‘LIKE’ if you agree –> The liberal media are a bunch of 1st Amendment HYPOCRITES.

I love it. I relish in the idea that even my family thinks my opinions are informed by some left-wing media machine.

It’s as if we need some media conglomerate to tell me that Christianity’s disgust for homosexuality is wrong, and if it weren’t for this information, I wouldn’t know how to think.

This comes from an entire population of people who think Jesus was born of a virgin and inviting this man’s spirit into your heart gives you the right to live forever.

Both instances are first amendment rights. And for all the praise the Dixie Chicks got, they received just as much flack.

Those people who post the above bullshit are having a tough time remembering history.

And likewise, for all the backlash against Chick-Fil-A, there are people screaming in support.

It’s free speech because you have the right to support it or not.

It’s bullshit to blame everything on some media conspiracy, because this blew up on the internets long before the media got their dirty hands on it.

But if you fall for that shit above, you’ll fall for this picture and caption:

“This is what we all looked like at 12 weeks in the womb. Legal to kill in all 50 states. Anyone think its not a person? Pass this along. It literally might save a life.

For the record, that “baby” is fake.

And regardless of how you feel about abortion, you should at least educate yourself on the ability of people to create dolls.

It’s simple.

And if you fall for bullshit, you’ll fall for more bullshit.

And while it’s your right to express your first amendment rights. It’s not a right that you need to do so ignorantly.
