Cenk Uygur: “Have at it, haus, because you are going to have your ass handed to you from now till the end of time if you keep going in this direction.”

The last seven seconds of this video are so worth it.

“On Tuesday night, Sarah Palin dropped by Bill O’Reilly’s show to discuss some recent comments by Laura Ingraham, as well as the approach the Romney/Ryan ticket should take in the home stretch of campaigning…Asked about Ingraham’s remark that if the Republicans can’t win this election, they should shut down the party, Palin, too, agreed that this is a election that should be working in Romney’s favor. Rush Limbaugh similarly said the president’s reelection would signal the end of the GOP…Then speaking more specifically about campaign strategy, O’Reilly questioned whether Romney should go after President Barack Obama “in a more personal way”…”.* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Thanks, Luis!

Whoa! meet a species of monkey you’ve probably never seen before

From Boing Boing:

Take the lesula (or Cercopithecus lomamiensis), an African monkey whose “discovery” is making headlines this week. While it does seem to be true that this particular species hasn’t been previously named and documented in the scientific literature, the scientists who wrote about the lesula were not the first people to encounter one. What’s more, lesula do not represent a species totally removed from animals we already knew about.

Boykin: Christians Cannot Support The Democratic Party

Jerry Boykin says Christians must leave the Democratic Party because it supports gay marriage, which is evil.

Jesus was clear. He came to divide, not to bring together.

Boykin’s ideas expressed in the video above are only reflective of many contradictory principles.

Be good and loving to everyone, but do not be good and loving to everyone.

Practice unconditional love with many conditions.

Tough love. Tough, passive aggressive, sort of but not really love.

NonStampCollector: Yahweh’s Amazing Test

The story of Abraham and Isaac is one of the most beloved stories to believers. And yet it’s one of the most-used stories by non-believers to validate that God isn’t as great as he’s told us he is.

I wrote in the post below about Billy Graham that a God who can be offended renders Him childish. I didn’t include that it renders the concept of free will as not free will. But that’s a complicated discussion. I can come back to it later.

The reason believers seem to love that Isaac, Abraham’s only son, would be murdered out of faith is to exemplify the idea that God sacrificing his only son Jesus is a great idea.

Something smells rotten when the only guys who want child sacrifice have motivations beyond that of normal, everyday human affairs.

Sacrificing children has NEVER been something any loving mother and father would do. Sure, our armies are built of sons and daughters who have risked their lives or died for the betterment of this country. I get that.

But they are their sons or daughters. We can claim them as ours, but they that’s figurative. Not literal.

My mom would have lost her marbles if I signed up for the military. She made it clear to us boys.

Why? Because love is.

It just is.

It should be telling to all of us that humans who love the gospel say, “Listen to my words and not my actions. We have all failed.” And yet, god’s voice is surprisingly quiet. It’s surprisingly quiet throughout the last two millennia.

If you consider storms, hurricanes and earthquakes — as well as sunsets, clouds, mountains and sunflowers — as the voice of god, get your ears checked.

Get them checked asap.
