There’s a believing blogger named Rachel Held Evans, and man, do I like her.
You know what she did? She went and wrote a really great piece about biblical literalism. And if you have a few minutes, here’s the link.
Here’s a snippet:
[E]verything changes when it’s your brother or sister who gets divorced, when it’s your son or daughter who is gay, when it’s your best friend who struggles with addiction, when it’s your husband or wife asking some good questions about Christianity you never thought about before.
You know those left-wing nuts over at Daily Kos?
They’ve finally said what we were all thinking, that the liberal media isn’t liberal. In a piece titled, “15 things everyone would know if there were a liberal media,” the writer — some akadjian — says: “If you know anyone who still believes in a “liberal media,” here’s 15 things everyone would know if there really were a “liberal media” (inspired by Jeff Bezos’ purchase of The Washington Post):”
This writer blames everything from sending jobs overseas, to bully republicans blocking legislation, to rich people, to racist ploys, to media consolidation.
Whatever that is.
Akadjian gives stats and all kinds of references to back up his or her claims. But that doesn’t make it true. Right? I mean. Just because they aren’t selling a book that includes those statistics doesn’t make it superior to someone’s claims made without sources.
Don’t believe the hype.
Everyone knows the media is run by leftist loonies with a penchant for evolution-lovin’ science hounds who blame everything on the right-wing form of evangelical Christianity.
