What in the world is this beast!?!

worm-1

We saw this little beast while hiking a little bit near the Pacific last week.

I grabbed a quick macro with the Leica. I’ve been staring at it quite a bit, but can’t nail down what it is exactly.

Somebody throw some sweet-ass latin words in the comments.

    1. Yes, thanks. I think I found it.

      Narceus americanus

      Link.

This semi-lovely black millipede with the red racing stripes is scientifically known as the Narceus americanus. Its common name is the North American Millipede. This millipede is noteworthy in that it is the largest of all the millipedes in North America. It can grow to a length of 10cm- which makes it twice as large as any other millipede in North America.
