Earlier today, I had a conversation with my brother-in-law’s boyfriend Ken who is in his mid 20s. We talked about some current events, and I was a bit mesmerized by his take on a few things.
He talked about how he doesn’t want to vote for Biden who has trouble with speaking, but the alternative is just another old dude who can’t fucking talk either, is dumb as rocks and adored for his ignorance.
Ken and I broached many topics, but when we got to the fact that I know and love a few conservative people, mainly an NC friend named John (not his real name) and another guy, Bill, not his real name either. Both are outspoken, but not with any iota of their own personal thoughts. Just a regurgitation of the same old bullshit from Rush or Fox or the like.
I told him how I was on the phone with John who, after I made a sexist “joke” and Tina shot me a look.
“Shit. Tina just gave me a dirty look.” I said. And then I apologized for doing it.
Then my buddy on the other end of the phone line said, “Hashtag Me Too!”
I laughed and then my buddy says, “Hey, did you ever notice that after Joe Biden was accused by that woman for sexual misconduct, the whole Me Too movement disappeared?”
“What? I just saw hashtag metoo in an article I read today. Shoot, I saw it like four times. Where did you hear that?”
“I didn’t hear it. I made the observation.”
“Bullshit,” I said. “You had to have heard that somewhere.”
And sure enough, a simple google search (here) rendered a link to Rush Limbaugh mysteriously making the same claim that my buddy made. What a coincidence? So I sent him a text showing with clarity that he lied to me. He didn’t make any effort to correct himself. To say, “Yeah, you’re right.”
Then I sent him a note that if you google: “metoo” recent stories fill several pages. The screen cap to the left is just one page of many examples.
Many of the stories happened within hours of our discussion.
The MeToo movement didn’t disappear. It might not be as loud as it was, because Covid, BLM, Trump’s endless tweet storms and the shit economy.
But yeah. It’s still there. So not only did he regurgitate some horseshit hoax conjured up by the deficient mind of a madman, Johnny boy is repeating the shit as “truth.”
I ended up texting him some reticent evils and finally picked up the phone and laid into him so hard … because this isn’t the first time he’s done it. And the fact that he’s unapologetic about it was a big fuck you.
But that’s a weird segue, because one of the things that my Brother in Law’s boyfriend and I talked about was that the Internet is literally crippling the older generation and that there should not be access to the internet for anyone over, say 50.
It’s like where they go to let the maggots infest their previously spectacular methods of critical thought. I’ve read umpteen articles and tweet threads detailing how some person’s otherwise intelligent parent went from a science understanding nurse to complete batshit nutter who doubts science, the government, and that everything is a fucking conspiracy.
My brother and I were talking the other day and Bill sent him a video about a guy spreading the same disinformation about Covid as everyone you’ve heard lately, and my Bill wrote, “This makes a lot of sense.”
Check it for yourself here:
One of the first things this guy claims that there is a deliberate mixing of all the wordplay.
His very first example is the word “Quarantine.”
He says, “We should stop calling it ‘quarantine.’ That’s a term for people who are verified sick.”
It’s for verified sick? Sounds good, right? Keep listening, right? Well, no dude. No. That should have been EVERYONE’s clue to turn off this baseball cap wearing lunatic.
A quarantine is a restriction on the movement of people and goods which is intended to prevent the spread of disease or pests. It is often used in connection to disease and illness, preventing the movement of those who may have been exposed to a communicable disease, but do not have a confirmed medical diagnosis. It is distinct from medical isolation, in which those confirmed to be infected with a communicable disease are isolated from the healthy population. Quarantine considerations are often one aspect of border control.
Keep in mind, too, that the first term that was used was simply, “Shelter in place.” Most medical professionals weren’t telling people to quarantine. They referred to quarantine when someone thinks they might have come into contact with a sick person. They were encouraging a measured, calculable risk factor and mitigating those conditions for the greater good of your neighbors, friends, family and loved ones.
“This is a house arrest, mandated by the state,” the guy in the video says.
Then he says, “There’s nothing social about social distancing.”
But the term is accurate. When you’re social, distance yourself. It’s not rocket fucking science. Again, this is someone that is receiving praise and accolades for “breaking it down.”
You can listen/watch for yourselves. It’s a treasure trove of word salads that, according to the responses to the video, are brilliant! I was thinking the same thing!
There’s also discussion of it being deleted from other people’s accounts … so if it’s deleted, it’s PROOF of a deep state effort to keep us all STUPID. This whole “deletion = must be true” is easily the dumbest of all dumb statements.
Hi, I’m Johnny boy and I get my professional advice from a dude in a hat waxing a poetic jungle of bullshit so that we can all see this hoax for what it really is: a way to control you, to make Mr. Trump look badly, to remove people.
Just wait till you get to the point that he claims the government shut down millions of small businesses but abortion clinics stay open … and that hygiene is not what will help slow the spread of infectious disease, I hope every to the absent god that people can of this novel douchbag is communicating:
These are the same people who believe that capitalism is the key to successful economies, but the government is so desperate to control you that they came up with a “flu” that forced the world to shut down, stop working and suffer.
My God. My friends are Qanon junkies.
Ken and I talked about how we agree that the Internet should have age restrictions. It’s been said before, the internet is literally doing to old people what rock-and-roll was once thought to do to kids … melt their brains.
Please do your best to stay safe and put your best foot forward to not perpetuate conspiracies or unfounded, poorly thought ramblings of insanity.
Meanwhile, here’s proof positive that the fucking MeToo movement is alive and flourishing:
