Impeach your speech

This week, I listened to a good portion of the impeachment arguments in the senate to convict President Trump of inciting violence in the capitol.

My bias led me to a place of anger, empathy, and agreement. Given the arguments of the violence and how it was instigated over time by the former president, it seemed to me that it would be easy to convict.

And yet, I can hear the arguments for political theater and I can accept them. Sure, sure, democrats hate(d) Trump. There wasn’t much to like. He is an empty-headed bumble butt mob boss with a gullible base of followers.

I got a kick out of the ridiculous Q&A that the Trump camp kept defending him saying that they had not seen one iota of proof for Trump’s guilt.

This week on Facebook, a friend posted something like, “Where are all my liberal friend’s posts celebrating how great Biden is?”

I laughed out loud and read it to Tina. “That’s the measure of a good president? Staking outrageous claims on the internets that all hail President Biden?”

We’re not looking for a charismatic leader with a penchant for hyperbole.

We’re not flag waving Trump supporters. We don’t wear hats, shirts, and decorate our hybrid vehicles with slogans and mega sized Biden/Harris decals. I saw a Biden Harris bumper sticker the other day and I imagine that’s about as bold as it’s going to get.

The number of Republicans who absconded in the wake of Trump’s asinine claims and behaviors is mind-blowing. On some surface, the objective view of the situation in the capitol and what led up to the insurrection is undeniable.

I saw that one friend posted, “Looks like Jaggy Joe Biden views the Presidency as a Mon-Fri job since he has, once again, gone away for the weekend.” The last comment got me giggling.

I took a look at Biden’s schedule and he’s at Camp David, the presidential retreat 60 miles from the White House. From what I thought I knew about Camp David, it was an extension of the White House, and while it’s not business as usual, it is a place where the President is still fully involved in his incumbent duties. It’s not a vacation, per se. But it features amenities that life in the White House might not.

I’m not sure what my friends are so bent out of shape about after the previous president clocked many golf weekend at one of his own properties after claiming he would have NO time as president to play.

What the fuck ever.

I feel like this post might be construed as a defense of the sitting president. I am not intending it to be. My intent is to point out that the previous president is occupying too much of my brain’s real estate and I’m hoping I can evict him sooner than later.

In the meantime, I’m going to don my Biden Harris cape and run through the streets screaming his name shooting off bottle rockets. 🚀
