How to win at politics … Alaskan redneck style

How do you — well, not you exactly — win at politics?

Make graphics that include assassination-rifle crosshairs on the locations where your opponents live and set the sheep out to slaughter …

How asinine do you have to be to associate with a party of violence? Now that the war on Christmas is over, it’s time for the war on politics to continue?

Really?

.

The status of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford is that she’s alive, after this morning’s horrific events.

Sarah Palin, her crosshairs graphic and her lot of idiotic cronies, should be ashamed, shunned and dethroned.

If I’m wrong about the shooter’s intentions, I’ll be more than happy to retract this statement. But for now, I’m instigating ignorantly blissful righteous indignation against this event.

Saturday Photographic Inspiration

Regular-reader Steve Daddy P sent me this link for a photography web site that absolutely kicks ass. The site features the work of street photographer Vivian Maier.

The three shots above are from that web site.

The site says this:

THIS WAS CREATED IN DEDICATION TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER VIVIAN MAIER, A STREET PHOTOGRAPHER FROM THE 1950S – 1990S. VIVIAN’S WORK WAS DISCOVERED AT AN AUCTION HERE IN CHICAGO WHERE SHE RESIDED MOST OF HER LIFE. HER DISCOVERED WORK INCLUDES OVER 100,000 MOSTLY MEDIUM FORMAT NEGATIVES, THOUSANDS OF PRINTS, AND A TON OF UNDEVELOPED ROLLS OF FILM. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 90-95% OF THE WORK.

Thanks Steve!

Saturday Reading List

  • Oh Chick-Fil-A, say it ain’t so! Gay activists are bashing the incredibly religious fast-food chain for associations with anti-gay agenda. Read here, here and here. Hey, Chick-Fil-A, do you get happy from smashing babies against rocks, too?!?
  • The cure for loneliness? Date Jesus. I am not fucking kidding. Julie Ferwerda explains that dating Jesus is a must for anyone within a relationship or single. Among the list of ways to date Jesus (see page 2): Write letters, Record his answers, Walk and talk, Set real dates, Make cards or gifts for him and Study him. One major thing Ferwerda left out: don’t expect reciprocation, the sex is going to suck (he’ll never go down on you), and if you don’t worship the ground he walks on, prepare for a life-time eternity of torment. One-sided love does not equal stalking, insanity or absolute bonker talk. In fact, all relationships should be modeled after the one-sided affair with the ghost of Jesus past, present and future. If you’re unclear how to date Jesus, please see this very informative statement:

So how do you date Jesus? Here are some ways that work for me, but the sky is the limit for creativity—just like any true dating relationship. The key is to make it spontaneous, personal and a major priority. And then you’ll find that he begins showing up for dates—sometimes with flowers, love notes, and rainbows!

Coo-coo!

  • The Beastie Boys are still set to release a new album soon. Good news, MCA is doing well against his battle with cancer.
  • Prepare yourself for a sweetness explosion! Man gives ex an exploding dildo for Christmas. He keeps calling her asking for phone sex.
  • The Monkeys you ordered offers captions to New Yorker cartoons that are actually funny.

Thanks Luis, for the Date Jesus link!

Suicide letters

Bill Zeller, a computer programmer, committed suicide recently. The news has been blazing around the Internet. He’s the guy who wrote a hack for iTunes called MyTunes that allowed you to pull music off another person’s iPod. Apparently he wrote a lot of other programs, too.

Zeller was abused as a kid, and the depression took its toll on him. He left behind a suicide letter that he requests is published in full. It’s long, but I want to publish it here. I hope you take the time to read it. I’m going to put it below the fold, but it’s definitely worth your time.

I don’t believe suicide is the right answer for anyone, but I have no idea the extent of the pain that went through Zeller’s mind before he died. I think this is only a small window into that

There’s a part about his parents religiosity that is very thoughtful. The whole thing is worth your time.  This is the link I’m publishing from.
